Our story
Back to the Barn was created from a deep respect for the farmers who sustain our communities. During graduate studies in Occupational Therapy, our founder recognized a major gap: farmers facing injury, pain, or age-related challenges often lacked the specialized support needed to keep working safely.
Occupational therapy bridges that gap. By combining clinical expertise with an understanding of farm life, Back to the Barn provides practical solutions that help farmers stay active, independent, and connected to the work that defines them.
We exist because farmers deserve care that honors both their lifestyle and their livelihood.
🌾 From the Barn to OT… and Back Again
- Abanub Daif, OTS, Executive Director, Founder
I grew up on a small farm in Sullivan County, NY, where early mornings, livestock, and the rhythm of the land shaped who I became. When my family moved to the city during my teenage years, I immediately felt the loss of the place that grounded me.
After becoming an occupational therapist, I knew I wanted to return to my roots and give back to the farming community that shaped my childhood. Back to the Barn grew from that homecoming—combining my OT skills with my agricultural upbringing to support farmers who face injury, pain, or age-related challenges.
This work is more than a service.
It’s a commitment to helping farmers stay safe, strong, and connected to the work that defines their lives.
"Welcome to Back to the Barn—where the heart of farming is supported, protected, and honored."
